The current situation on the Ukrainian raw material market and the reorientation of supply sources require certain adjustments to production processes and the replacement of some components.
This process also has a positive effect, because we now purchase our raw materials primarily from European manufacturers, which leads to a change in formulations and an improvement in product properties. Accordingly, the replacement of some components requires additional and more careful control of the quality of manufactured products.
The following are the main control points, recently established in the production of “Miks color” products in Helios Ukraine.
We strengthen the input control in order to obtain the maximum result at the output:
- Raw materials arriving at the plant are subject to mandatory inspection. Sampling takes place according to the regulatory document for a specific type of raw material – the supplier is obliged to provide the appropriate certificate
- In addition, our laboratory performs analysis according to its own requirements, and the list of such investigations may be wider than those declared by the supplier.
We regularly update and improve our methods:
- For products of the “Miks color” brand a standard set of indicators is prescribed in the normative document (Technical Regulations). A methodology has been developed for each indicator, according to which a certain analysis is made.
- In our laboratory we can detect the inconsistency of the material in the production process and immediately refine it to the indicators according to the regulatory document.
- Using a minimum set of equipment, the consumer can check the grinding, viscosity, color, VOC capacity, etc. However, this is not necessary at all, since each batch undergoes strict control and in case of non-compliance, it will not be released.
- In addition, we keep arbitration samples of each batch, so we can check the compliance of this material with regulations if necessary.
Every year, our laboratory undergoes internal and external audits, improving our qualifications.
- Our R&D laboratory, as well as quality control department, are equipped with modern equipment recommended due to ISO. We are constantly updating our equipment for raw materials and quality control.
- All laboratory employees have special education and expertise, and regularly improve their qualifications.
As a result of the strengthening of quality control and R&D work, as well as a reorientation towards the supply of raw materials mainly from European manufacturers, there is a significant improvement of certain “Miks color” product properties. For example, the drying time of primer enamel 3 in 1 has been reduced from 20 to 4 hours and all “Miks color” products meet the requirements of the Technical Regulation for VOC control in paints and raw components (does not contain toxic lead compounds), etc.
